Greetings.  I am the system administrator for the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Kansas.  The department is a graduate teaching and drug discovery research unit.  The department has a close relationship with, and I support the Molecular Structures Group.

This is very exciting and cutting edge computer based research.  Part of the supports includes the Molecular Graphics and Modeling Laboratory.  This lab includes a 16 node Linux Cluster and SGI Workstations running Tripos drug discovery software.

Part of the continuing effort to keep costs down and to get the highest level of computing and research effort, is a commitment of using Open Source products where possible.  The Schönbrunn Research Group is a perfect example of this commitment, using a combination of Compaq Alpha servers, workstations, SGI workstations, and Dell workstations, running O, CNSsolve and MolScript.  This group, is able to investigate how the three-dimensional structures of medicinally relevant proteins contribute to their reaction mechanisms and to their conformational flexibility, using X-ray crystallography combined with methods in biochemistry, molecular biology and molecular modeling.

Please check out my resume.  You can find it as HTML, a Microsoft Word document (DOC), or as an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF).
